OAIA is named after Oaia Island, the distinctive rocky island just off Muriwai’s coastline. A familiar landmark to locals, it represents our connection to this wild stretch of Auckland’s west coast — and it’s where every OAIA experience begins.

Meet Jo,

Growing up in Auckland’s Waitākere Ranges with a New Zealand mother and a Dutch father, welcoming visitors from the other side of the world was a special part of my childhood. Seeing them discover the places, people and stories that make New Zealand unforgettable — and leave with lifelong memories — sparked a passion that never left.

That same drive led me to create meaningful experiences across the world, from creating international incentive trips to delivering corporate wellbeing workshops throughout New Zealand.

But when I paused to ask what I truly wanted next, the answer was clear: share New Zealand, create genuine connections, and help people feel restored through nature and wellbeing.

OAIA was born from that vision - private, locally hosted experiences that invite you to explore Muriwai’s wild beauty, hear its stories, and reconnect with nature and yourself.
